Kids tv, old toys, and personal musings....
When down to the ferens art gallery in hull this weekend for the Oliver postgate exhibition.
Postgate was an animated of beloved 1970's children's tv in the U.K. Famous for bagpuss and the clangers.

The second part of the exhibition was a collection of old children's toys. Including a this item i was given before I was even old enough to know I was trans.

Two things occur to me.
1: this is a really odd thing to buy a toddler you believe is a boy.
2: I should have played with this more when I had the chance...

I assume you're referring to the Teapot House. Why would it be odd?

What 3 year old boy doesn't want a dolls house in the shape of a teapot???

Three-year-olds are incapable of making that kind of value judgement. If it appeals to them when they see it, they'll ask for it.
It's more a question of, what type of parent would deny the request? Answers on a postcard...

Denying the requested is one things..... this was an unsolicited present. One I didn't really appreciate at the time....

People buy things for others that they themselves would find appealing. I can easily imagine an aunt or granny choosing this over a GI Joe or He-Man action figure.

I loved toy soldiers and tanks and planes. But I always played with my sisters toys too. My favourite doll was John Joe the baby doll. I loved John Joe. He was a baby doll. I loved babies.
Didn't see the significance of it at the time.
Then I had babies, I didn't carry them but I brought up my babies. Not babies anymore, little men now.
Light of my life.
